Patricia Horotan, co-founder and managing partner, shares her thoughts about the impact of MiFID II on research spend.

According to Horotan, one positive consequence of the competition for research spending is that the quality of research has improved in some cases, said Horotan, as analysts have become more focused on their coverage.

“In large sell-side firms, star analysts are leaving and setting up their own firms, and these are being replaced by more junior analysts, who are writing less maintenance research. Value rises to the top this way,” she said.
