BlueMatrix Honors American Heart Month

Company Announcements

February is American Heart Month and the BlueMatrix team would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Diseases (CHDs) and support The Children's Heart Foundation in their tremendous efforts to save children's lives.

Congenital heart diseases are the most common and deadly birth defects in the world and the #1 birth defects in the U.S., 1 in 110 children are born in the U.S. with a CHD. You can learn more about CHDs at The Children's Heart Foundation New York Chapter

The Children's Heart Foundation is the leading national organization exclusively focused on funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital heart diseases.

Throughout the years, BlueMatrix has participated in various charities and events to raise awareness for CHDs alongside The Children's Heart Foundation. This past December, BlueMatrix partnered again with the Children's Heart Foundation and the Phyllis and David Komansky Children's Hospital at New York - Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to donate toys to children who had to spend the holidays in the hospital. The toys were also used to stock the hospital's brand-new playroom which opened in January 2018.

“Learning your child has several, severe heart defects and will not survive without multiple open heart surgeries is not something any parent will ever be prepared for. My BlueMatrix family has been nothing but supportive since Michael's diagnosis, not only of Michael and my family, but of the Children's Heart Foundation and helping to raise money and awareness for the number one birth defect, for that I will be forever grateful."

BlueMatrix's involvement in this cause is in support of their very own Head of Operations, Tara Tripoli Umstead, a mother to Michael Dean who was born October 2012 with multiple, severe congenital heart defects. Read Mike's Story.

Michael's story is a courageous and successful one that has inspired two members of the BlueMatrix team, Sarah Tiede and Kelby Cheatham to run the New York Half Marathon on March 18 to help raise funds for awareness of CHDs and to support "Mighty Mike".

“Michael is an incredible child, one with insurmountable strength and survival, he's been through more than most adults will go through in their lifetime. There is no cure for congenital heart defects, this disease is life threatening, life altering and life changing which is why I do everything I can to raise awareness for CHDs, for all these heart warriors and angels.”
